If it was here I'd have it. I have heard nothing but positive reviews out of Verizon FIOS.

    Re: Alltel Phone

Anyone have any new info? I keep calling Alltel, but the poor folks in the call center have no idea what's going on. I pay too much for this service for it to be out for this long - my problems have been going on for over a week. I'm considering asking for a discount on my bill.

    Re: Alltel Phone

No problems with Verizon cell service in Norton. Strangely enough, a couple friends of mine have AT&T and had no issues at all. I am going to ask for a discount on my bill. And I know it can be done. Sometimes, you just have to ask nicely enough to get a supervisor, though. Seriously, don't be rude to the rep, but if he/she is not authorized to do a discount, kindly ask for somebody who is.

Calling Alltel again today, just to make sure tech realizes there is still an issue and the ticket is not closed on it. Repeat calls never hurt.
Looking for my Darcy, but finding only Wickham. Right now, I'd settle for Bingley.

    Re: Alltel Phone

I did call again today, and I am never, EVER rude to a rep. I usually have them laughing the whole time. However, if this isn't fixed by tomorrow, I'm asking for a discount. That's one fourth of my billing cycle that I've been going without the service I'm paying for.

I told the sweet guy who helped me today that if his system allows him to flag someone as an extremely dissatisfied customer, he should do so for me. I also nicely told him that this problem has me considering taking my business elsewhere, since this is the SECOND time I've gone through this in six months.

I did make sure, however, to tell him that those comments are in no way directed at him, and asked if there's an appropriate spot in my file to include that info, he should do so. I also told him that I understand that he has limited info, and that none of this is his fault.

    Re: Alltel Phone

my wife and I are taking our business elsewhere, this has happened to us about 5 different times and it isnt fair for us to pay for a service that doesnt work. there are a few other guys at work who are having the same problems and all they have been told is that alltel is working on it.
Cant we all just get along?

    Re: Alltel Phone

Just got off the phone with Alltel again and got some useful information. It is an RIM (BlackBerry) issue. The RIM tech people messed up a couple of codes so here we and two or three other markets sit with no data. Nothing Alltel can do. The rep was very nice and also said they were told a little earlier today that because the outage was so long, we should see a credit on our next bills. Estimated time of service restoration, the usual 24-48 hours.

    Re: Alltel Phone

I was sitting here and for about five minutes it went back to 1XEV then of course went back to 1X..... Hope it gets fixed soon. How come it isn't affecting all phones if it is a blackberry issue???? My wife has a Curve and hers has stayed 1XEV this entire time.

    Re: Alltel Phone

It's probably on Alltel's end, but they're passing the buck to RIM. Not unheard of for them.

Wishing the switch would hurry up and take place so I could make a final decision on my phone service. I'm sick and tired of Alltel.

    Re: Alltel Phone

My Alltel contract was up several months ago, and I had been purposely waiting on some movement on the Alltel/AT&T purchase to make a change in my plan. The finalization they expected Dec 2009 didn't happen and with the exception of some movement in the Dakotas it almost appears dead in the water.

The AT&T plans seem to be priced better, but it appears we wont have true AT&T service until a year or so after they actually purchase the area's remaining Alltel (whenever that may be).

Verizon has good customer service but their pricing is higher than Alltel's (for my needs, at least)
    You'll shoot your eye out.
